Overall a good stay...

I stayed here with friends for 5 nights.
The staff are friendly and helpful. Hotel has a good pool and sunbed area. Drinks at the hotel are excellent, they do a mean Cosmopolitan! Reception staff are very helpful and accommodating.
The food however is a different story. It's like it's all cooked and plated up and left on a serving heat rack. It is edible but I did find it a little greasy. I don't think it's authentic Italian cooking at its best and it is overpriced for what you get. If you want a great evening meal, venture out on the very handing shuttle bus service into Sorrento itself. Taxi's in Sorrento are expensive so the shuttle bus is a great asset to the hotel.
The hotel overall is a good hotel but can see it looks tired in places, like the bathroom in the room. The room was clean but there was pencil drawing all over the walls, like shading. Think it brings the room down.
I would stay here again and do think even given it's misgivings it's good value for money.

Worth it for the view!

My wife and I stayed for 10 days half board. I agree with previous reviews regarding the food. Small portions and probably trying to cater for the many Brits who are guests. The quality wasn't great and we were disappointed that every fish dish was labelled as frozen rather than fresh on the menu.
Rooms are small and beginning to look a little shabby so definitely not the 4 star we were expecting. However everything was spotlessly clean. Our room was cleaned daily and toiletries replaced. We did notice that despite hanging the towels up we didn't need replacing we were always given fresh ones. (There was a card in our room, as you find in pretty much most hotels now, encouraging guests to re use towels from an environmental perspective, and proudly stating they were one of the first hotels in the area to be recognised for this!) All staff were courteous and helpful.
The pool area was fab. Always plenty of sun loungers and parasols and seats in the shade where you could sit and relax. The thing that really made a stay in this hotel worthwhile though was the absolutely stunning views over the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. Sitting on the restaurant terrace at night as the sun went down was lovely.
You need 3 pin continental adapters rather than the more common 2 pin.

An oasis with a volcanic view!!

My wife and I stayed for 4 nights at the end of our 2 week Italy vacay. The room, although small, was comfortable and opened to a huge balcony overlooking Sorrento below and Napoli in the distance. The staff was very helpful and the waitstaff at the restaurant (excellent) were very friendly. The pool was a great escape from the heat and offered plenty of poolside lounge chairs. After a long day exploring the Amalfi coast, a dip in the beautiful pool and of course a cocktail at poolside was the perfect end to our day. We will definitely consider the Art Hotel for our next Sorrento visit!

Such a friendly place and incredible views

So, before we start, I have to point out that the climb up and walk from the centre of Sorrento can be an issue for some people. If you have problems walking then this is not the place for you. Yes, there is a free bus, but then you are tied to the times it runs (and in 5 days, we only made it once!). However, for us, the staff, the pool and the views, completely made this place. The breakfast is generous and varied (we didn't manage try everything), the room was lovely and clean (we didn't have a room with a view, because it was not worth it as we spent all our time out and about or by the pool), and the staff were extremely helpful. My friend and I used the walk into Sorrento to justify the cocktails and dinners out in Sorrento :-). The only other issue for us (and this is a personal preference) is the restaurant food is a major disappointment. The waiters are lovely (and Guiseppe hilarious), but the food is just not up to the view and the staffing standards, a real pity, as we would have happily spent every night there, but instead made the decision to trek into town each evening. In short, if you are fairly active anyway, and enjoy good views, great service and a lovely pool, then book the Art Hotel.

Visit May 2nd to May 9th 2017

We stayed at this hotel in May 2016 and enjoyed it so much that we returned this year. The staff are friendly, efficient and helpful especially in the restaurant and at the front desk. The food is excellent, the rooms are comfortable and well appointed and the views are great.Although you are not in the city centre the hotel bus service is regular and dependable.A 10 minute ride is worth it for the peace and quiet when you return from the city centre. The art work in the rooms and around the hotel were much appreciated.

An Ethereal Panoramic View!

Perched high on the cliffs overlooking the sparkling bay is the Art Hotel Gran Paradiso. A hotel shuttle ascends the very narrow path to the facility. The shuttle also makes runs all day long to and from Sorrento for your convenience. The view is just spectacular as your eyes gaze at Sorrento, Mt. Vesuvius and the Isle of Capri in the distance. I was there in June, 2017 as part of a group tour. My room as a single was small but comfortable. I did not have a great view in Room 113 as I faced the back of the complex. The bathroom is small with a very narrow shower stall. The food at the hotel is good and I enjoyed the breakfast in the morning. You can enjoy the spectacular view all day long as you eat, swim in the pool, have a drink or just take in the scenery. They have entertainment outdoors many nights during the week. The staff at the front desk was very friendly and efficient. The hotel has free Wifi service and it was a very strong signal. You are very close to downtown Sorrento and I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the charming town. The view is what makes this such a wonderful experience and this was definitely a very enjoyable stay for me.

Return visit

our return visit to this hotel was as good as the first visit , lovely views from our balcony , food was very enjoyable , staff helpful and friendly , the only thing that spoilt it was some noisy guests ( Americans ) who banged doors shut ( they shut quite easily without slamming them ) and were quite loud , this is obviously not the fault of the hotel , such a shame some people are not considerate of other guests . We love the location of this hotel and we do enjoy the walk up and down the hill , but also made use of the free shuttle bus they offer . would stay here again if we return to sorrento . Thankyou to you all for making our stay an enjoyable and comfortable one

Lovely hotel and views

We had room 209, which had a sea view, three beds and a patio, which included two chairs and two loungers. However, there were always loungers available around the beautiful pool although they would be a lot more comfortable if the hotel invested in some padding because the metals can be uncomfortable when you only use a towel - pool towels are provided in the bedrooms.

Lovely clientele when we visited from all over the world with many staying on a half board basis but we were just B & B. Here, breakfast was adequate but no more, the cereal's were bland and the hot choices low in number e.g. no omelette station......

The shuttle bus was brand new and air conditioned although the early evening timings were pretty inconvenient if you were not having dinner at the hotel because they were 18.10 (a little early when the sun is shining and you are enjoying the pool) or 20.45, which is a little late when you are looking to eat out - the cynic in me would suggest there isn't a shuttle at say 19.00 - 19.30 because the hotel wishes you to have dinner in the hotel. We did on the last night and it was €25 each, which was okayish but portion sizes small.

All the staff were very helpful and we had lunch at the pool side restaurant several times. A captive audience given the location of the hotel (no eateries close by) we paid €11 for a Greek salad, €8 for a pizza margherita with additional toppings €1, €8 for a toasted cheese & tomato sandwich with chips. Beer was €5 per 0.40 litre, Prosecco €5, Coke €3 and water €2.50

We were not too keen on Sorrento but the hotel was lovely and we would recommend it but we won't be going back to this part of Italy

Very Nice hotel with fantastic views.

Recent stay at his hotel situated just away from the centre of Sorrento, a short shuttle bus drive up a steep and windy road. The hotel has a modern decor with some great views of the surrounding area and bay. Room sizes vary, but our room was spacious, clean and had a fantastic large balcony with a panoramic sea view. The hotel is quiet with little or no entertainment, which does mean it's relaxing especially after any hectic touring days across to Capri, Pompeii or other great places to visit.
A Regular shuttle bus from the hotel takes you down into town, which you could walk but would take you 20-30 mins along some very steep and narrow road. If you miss the bus or want to be more flexible on times, beware Taxi's are not cheap in Sorrento.
Staff friendly and helpful, although some speak little English.
Food ok but could be better for this level of hotel. Would like to have seen a bit more traditional Italian food especially on the main course choice at dinner.
Overall a nice hotel with stunning views which we enjoyed for our week in a lovely place.

Camera spaziosa, climatizzata, sufficientemente silenziosa (dipende dai vicini).

Exceptional views on a steep hill

We stayed recently at the Gran Paridiso Sorrento for a week in a seafront facing balcony room over looking the stunning views of the Bay of Naples. It is a must to get a seafront location to appreciate the views. The hotel is at least 3km from the centre of Sorrento but a fairly regular courtesy bus is provided by the hotel to Sorrento picking you up directly outside the hotel. The bus has 28 seats and is brand new and air conditioned. It is possible to walk to the centre of Sorrento in around 30 minute but the road is extremely narrow and very steep until you get to the main road. The last pick up from Sorrento is 11.00pm so for those who like to stay out longer it will cost at least 15 to 20 euros to get back by taxi. Our room was clean and tidy but nothing exceptional. There is a fridge in the room stocked with drinks, they would need to be paid for if used. You are advised not to drink the water. The large bed is infact 2 beds put together. We had halfboard which entitled us to breakfast and 3 course evening meal. We enjoyed the food, however if you were after traditional italian food this was not really reflected in the meals we were provided. The bar is open until 12pm and drinks are 3 euros for a coke to 4/ 5 euros for a bottle of stella/wine. The pool area is great and relaxing and at night time meals can be taken outside overlooking the pool which beautifully lit up with the bay of Naples down below. There little entertainment whilst we were there. The hotel is relaxed and fairly quiet and staff courteous and informative. You need 3 pin adapters for any devises you may use from Britain, not 2 pins I took. The hotel did lend me an adapter. The shaving socket in the bathroom was a 2 pin. The hotel bus drop off point at Sorrento rail station is excellent for a 30 minute trip to Pompeii 4.40 euros return or Herculaneum (50 minutes) at 5.40 euros, it does go onto Naples ( takes from Sorrento about an hour or so).. The local trains can be very crowded. Overall if you want to stay in a beautifully located hotel, that is not too fancy, is fairly quiet, provides good customer service and you are not too bothered about about been located 3 km from the main hub of Sorrento then this might be the hotel for you.

The heart of Sorrento

What can I say about Gran Paradiso that is not already in its namesake - what a warm, wonderful and truly stunning hotel; an equal to its location.

The view was to die for; 180 degree panoramic of the bay of Naples, Vesuvius, Ishcia and Capri. Seated high, the hotel was away from the hustle and bustle of the streets, and was incredibly peaceful, however, only being a few minutes drive to central Sorrento. The fact that it was an adult only hotel only added to its serenity.

The staff were superb. Welcoming, friendly, warm and polite, nothing was too much and service always came with a smile.

The shuttle bus was an amazing service too for both trips into Sorrento and drop-offs for excursions.

The food was great and there was something on the menu every night, even for my more particular other half. The wine was also good and the local Campania wine was wonderful.

The art was a lovely addition and great touch that each room had its very own design by an artist. The hearing heart on the roof was a beacon across the bay - lovely.

In summary I'd highly recommended the hotel for a relaxing Sorrento break.

Wonderful views, great hotel!

A wonderful hotel 3km outside of Sorrento in the Sant Agnello suburb, up a hill which gives spectacular views over the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. Although we opted for a room without a view, it didn't matter as we spent most of our time in the fantastic pool and restaurant areas which had the views.

The hotel provides a shuttle bus service up and down the steep hill to and from Sorrento. This was a very good service but as the buses are less than hourly you just have to plan around them. For example on an evening the buses into Sorrento are 18:10 and 20:45 and returning at 21:00 and 23:00 so you have to plan your night accordingly otherwise it is a €20 taxi back.

The walk is doable, but only really during the day as the narrow windy road up to the hotel would be a bit dangerous to walk at night. But the walk into town during the day only takes 25 mins. We walked back once and it was pretty thigh-straining!

Our room was a high standard, large, well equipped, bath and shower, air con and a balcony overlooking lemon groves.

The art in the hotel makes the standard decor quirky and interesting.

The buffet breakfast was very good, attended by very charming waiters.

Overall we loved this hotel. The fact that it is a little way outside of Sorrento was a plus, as it had a more relaxed feel and, of course, those stunning views!

Hotel Heaven

Wow!!! The hotel has the most stunning views I've seen. Waking up to Mt Vesuvius sitting across the Bay of Naples each morning was overwhelming and absolutely picturesque. The drive up the narrow and winding hill by the shuttle bus was a bit scary but the drivers were experienced and safety first. The hotel breakfast buffet was brilliant with local produce especially the tastiest cooked tomatoes we had eaten in Italy. The nightime dining room meals were tasty but not outstanding. Most of the staff that were lovely and friendly but the odd one or 2 were a little disappointing. The hotel overall was very good and do not be deterred by a couple of negative things my husband loved every minute spent in Sorrento and would happily return in a heartbeat and stay at this hotel.

Gongeous Sorrento

The hotel was booked through Thomas Cook. The hotel is superb. Our room was fab. It was a room with a huge balcony, facing the hotel pool, the sea and the magnificent Mount Vestries. The whole hotel is very contemporary. All the staff there were very professional from the reception staff to the cleaners. They were all very pleasant, friendly, helpful. The lead waitor did his job very well and he was brilliant with the guest. They were all professional, friendly and cheeky. We got to know most of them well. We had a brilliant stay. The food was lovely. Half board. Breakfast is buffet style and dinner is a sit down 3 course meal with a different menu everyday. Good portion. The hotel is up on a hill. It is an adult only hotel which was perfect for us. There was a regular shuttle bus taking us from the hotel to and from the train station. You can walk to and from the centre. Takes about 20 mins. We walked a few times. There are lots of shops, bars, cafes, restaurants, hotels tourist sites within walking distance. Loads to see and do. We will definetly visit again. Travelling to Pompei, Herculaneum, Naples are easy with the metro train. Travelling to Amalfi Coast is either via a bus or the ferry. Cheaper by the bus but it's and experience. The bus is 1st come 1st serve. I advise going during the week day rather than a weekend or bank holiday as it can get very overcrowded in the bus both journeys. If you choose to go to Capri it's expensive via ferry but it's a gorgeous island. We walked a lot in Capri and discovered many hidden treasures that you can’t experience if you do a tour via a boat but it's entirely up to you. Enjoy. It's a beautiful part of the world.

Piacevole soggiorno

Fantastic short break

I booked this hotel for a 3 night surprise stay for my husband's 50th birthday. It certainly didn't disappoint. The staff are welcoming, friendly and professional. Our superior double room was a great size with sunbeds on the balcony and was kept clean throughout our stay.
As mentioned by most reviewers, the views are spectacular and are certainly worth the hike up the hill! We do love walking/running when on holiday but this has to be the steepest hill we've stayed on! It's a 25 minute walk into the centre of Sorrento (flat once you've got down/up the hill) However, the shuttle bus is regular if you fancy taking it easy.
We have stayed at one of the 'grander' hotels in the centre but the Paradiso was friendlier, quieter and much more relaxing ( and nowhere near as expensive!). We certainly felt that we got value for money.
Thank you for a great stay.

Amazing holiday

Fantastic hotel, so clean and modern with an amazing pool. The food was great and we had a different choice every night. Between 3/4 different starters, mains and deserts giving us the chance to try some authentic Italian food which we loved. The shuttle bus was definitely needed as it was quite a distance to the centre the only issue was the shuttle bus finishes at around 12 so not great if you wanted to stay out late. The staff in the hotel were friendly and helpful and the hotel itself had a lot of activities to choose from including day trips to the isle of Capri and visiting the remains of Pompeii which I would definitely recommend! Overall fantastic holiday.

Visita a Sorrento e dintorni

Albergo consigliato. Torneremo senz'altro.

Excellent 5 day break

We stayed here for 5 days at the end of October booking with Easy Jet. When we arrived we had a lovely welcome from a very friendly and helpful reception team. The room we were given had an amazing view from the balcony towards Capri one side and Naples and Mount Vesuvius the other. The art in the room was modern but in keeping with the boutique style of the hotel. The bed was really comfortable and the shower large clean and effective. Each day of our stay the room was cleaned by friendly staff to a high standard.
The breakfast was really good with a large selection of European food and of course nothing beats a glass of Prosecco to start the day. The resturant staff were always friendly and animated in the usual Italian style. The pool area and balcony area are superb with stunning views, if not the best views possibly in Sorrento of the beautiful Bay of Naples which were enhanced by the sunny and warm October weather though an early morning thunderstorm over the bay was astonishing to watch.
The hotel provides buses into town as it's excellent views come at the price of being on the outskirts of town and on top of the highest Hill . The only slight downside is the evening bus back is either 9.00pm or 11.00pm and the only other option is a taxi - standard €10 trip- as walking is not a viable option after a night out in Sorrento.
The area of Sorrento is great for exploring with lots of hidden Gems and great resturants and of course the trip to Pompeii- get there early to avoid queues plus use the metro or buses as not expensive but beware the trains are filled to extreme numbers on return journey if it hits rush hour.If you want to go to Vesuvius check first that the mountain is open as it gets closed a lot and the tour operators tell you it's open even when they know it's closed.
This was a great short break at a lovely hotel with amazing views in a classic Italian city where everyone we meet was friendly and welcoming . One last thing some of the restaurant at Naples airport serve really good food so surprise yourself like we did. I would highly recommend this hotel and Sorrento.

October in Sorrento

We had a lovely stay at the Art Hotel . The staff were very friendly and helpful. A beautiful location with stunning views . A little bit out of town but a great bus service supplied by the hotel. There wasn't too much to do in the hotel itself but lots to do in and around Sorrento. The weather was fantastic reaching 25C on several days.

Wonderful views

This hotel has a prime position over looking the bay of Naples. The rooms are small and unless you pay a supplement don't have much of a view. However the views from the restaurant and pool area are spectacular. We were half board and there are plenty restaurants in Sorrento to eat out during the day. Its a good 15 minutes walk into the resort centre where you can catch a train to Pompei. Would go back as staff are lovely and rooms and food are good.

Molto molto bello

Mal in Sorrent, in diesem Hotel waren.

Amazing hotel!

Yet another fantastic holiday at this lovely hotel.
We always come for special occasions , this year my 65th and they helped me celebrate my birthday in style. Was everything I d hoped to be and more . A big,big thankyou especially to the wonderful Guiseppe . He really made our holiday for us . Also Giovanni and Michael or waiters. I really don t know why the food has been criticised in previous reviews. There was always a choice of four dishes in each course and alternatives offered if none to your liking or dietary needs. We also had lunch several days and was most enjoyable.
We also found the reception staff really welcoming and helpful.
We had room 130 , a seaview room on the first floor. Was spotless , amazing views and slept like a log!
This was our 5 th visit to this hotel but have nt been for 5 years. We certainly won t be leaving it 5 years until we return!
Many thanks to all at the hotel for making our stay so special

Hight on a hill stood..

The most beautifully placed hotel. We had a driver from Naples to Sorrento and as he went high up on this hill we just knew it was going to be good. A 180 degree view over the Bay of Naples, beyond breath taking, it was spectacular. The first word in the hotel name is the give away. Arts. Everywhere and it is very modern. From the reception on there is art. Room 206 had what we called 'Dripping Blood' from the ceilings on all 4 walls. Different colours but red and crimson were there and neither of us liked it. A wall sculpture of a woman with a wheel and dangly bits from the ceiling of cut fabric and mirrored hung from the walls. Luckily our large balcony with 2 chairs and 2 decadent sun bathers gave us that view and was very comfortable. Back in the room on a tiled floor 2 beds, 1 chair, 1 slim line table and a wall mounted TV with 3 English speaking news channels. I love minimalism but do not love sparse. This to me was painful and with just a couple of changes the room would have been so much better. An en suite of bidet, toilet, basin and bath/shower was more than adequate. The swimming pool was icy!! Too cold for us so we soaked up the never ending sun, enjoyed poolside drinks, lunches and dinners and on occasion room service.
All of the staff were amazing. A free shuttle bus whisked you from hill side to railway station in the centre of town and ran on the hour.
Putting the art to one side this hotel could not be bettered. It has THE best view period. The food was good, housekeeping with clean sheets daily and room cleaned. For a first time visit this was a perfect introduction to Sorrento.

Luxurius stay in Sorrento Italy

The Hotel Gran Paradiso Art was beyond any expectations. Luxurious accommodations with art in the lobby and every room. Each room decorated by an individual artist. Exquisite breakfast buffet and restaurant dinners by a very professional staff. Excellent pool & patio area. Great view of the bay because this hotel is very high on the hillside above the city. The hotel also provides an hourly shuttle to the downtown area and to pick ups for sightseeing tours nearby i.e. Pompei, Vesuvius, boat rides to Capri, buses to Amalfi, Positano, and Ravello. If you want to stay out after 2100 (9pm) take a taxi back to the hotel. Great value stay - room, food, & drinks. Only felt we were overcharged on one item, laundry - 92E compared to the same amount in Dublin, IE 15E. We would reccomend this to other travellers.

Beautiful views, great staff, average food

Our room was perfect with a large sea view balcony, and the room was cleaned daily. We could see that some of the other rooms had much smaller balconies but it depends what you want. The rule of not bringing food and drink in from outside the hotel was a little strict, we felt like we had to throw away water before coming back to avoid being charged.

The hotel is on a hill giving great views but the shuttle service was very much needed to get to and from the town, least of all because it was a very narrow road when cars were on it. The driver was very polite.

Similarly the hospitality staff were very friendly and tell (terrible) jokes. We were half board, breakfast was nice with variety on offer. The evening meal was okay although we felt the main flavour was salt, not always the traditional or fresh ingredients we thought it might have been. Some dishes tasted like they used the same sauce, little veg, and we were not used to bones being left in fish. It was a lot to have a 3 course meal every evening too.

There can be a wait for an outside table on an evening (we didn't really mind), although you won't be told this, and it can be difficult to know who is waiting for a table and who is just having a drink by the pool. You have to figure out for yourself who is waiting before you and who came after you. There was usually plenty of tables inside if you didn't want to wait but we felt that the atmosphere outside was much nicer.

The pool side was lovely day and night, again with great views. We had no problem getting a sun lounger the days we stayed by the pool.

I would recommend the hotel for the room, views, shuttle service and staff but perhaps not for the food in the evening.

Fabulous views

This hotel is on a steep hillside so you get the most amazing views. The sunsets over Ischia (NOT Capri as one review says) are stunning. We never bored of the view of Vesuvius either. The pool area always had plenty of sunloungers available. The pool area like the rest of the hotel was spotlessly clean.
The female staff on reception were lovely, always very helpful (the men a bit gruff), all of the waiters and bar staff were fabulous and so was our usual shuttle bus driver.
The shuttle bus was essential as on a very hot day that walk back up to the hotel would have been horrible. The bus ran almost every hour and was a prompt and reliable service.
The hotel food was very disappointing and with hindsight we would not have chosen half board. Anyone who thought it was fantastic food hasn't eaten out enough! There are plenty of good places to eat in Sorrento, all reasonably priced, where you can get a good selection.
The unique selling point of this hotel is its art. We all appreciate art differently but I didn't hear any positive comments about it. There are places where a blank wall would have been better.
Our room had a sea view but only a tiny balcony and had very tired decor. Looking on the hotel's website it's clear there are some more up to date looking rooms. I suppose that's the luck of the draw!
Overall we had a good fortnight but probably wouldn't choose to stay there again. A hotel a bit closer to the centre of Sorrento would have been better for us.

Incredible views. Not so incredible food.

The views from the hotel are stunning and the pool terrace is a fantastic place to relax. The free shuttle service to Sorrento centre is very useful, and we also found ourselves walking out from the hotel too in to St Agnello (only about 15 minutes walk). The hill on the way back is a killer but it's not impossible! The room is nice and modern but lacks storage. Again amazing views from the room. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Biggest let down was the food. We stayed half board but only ate dinner once as the food standard was not great compared to what we could get in the local area. Overall though, a great place in a beautiful part of the world and we wouldn't hesitate to return.

Fantastic holiday

Beautiful hotel situated on the hillside overlooking the most fabulous view of the Gulf of Naples and Capri. The most breathtaking sunsets I've ever seen. The hotel staff were all very helpful and welcoming. Terrace amazing both during the day and especially in the evening, for a few drinks very reasonably priced. The dining experience with Guiseppe, Antonio, Salvatore and Eugenio was excellent and very entertaining, we also enjoyed the food most evenings and breakfasts every morning with lots of choice.
The shuttle service is very good we were able to walk in to Sorrento most days in approximately 25 minutes but were very glad of the bus to bring us back to the hotel to relax and enjoy the evenings on the terrace.
The room very comfortable and spotless with a beautiful sea view. We had a fantastic 10 days holiday in August past and will most definitely be back.

Lovely hotel

Stayed here for 5 nights.
Very good welcome on arrival. Room clean and spacious. Good shower & products in bathroom
Breakfast was good lots of choice.
Staff in restaurant really friendly & welcoming. Had a meal on first night, was reasonable at €25 for 3 courses.
Pool area very clean, although we did not use pool as weather not warm enough.
Staff very helpful when we needed to book cab for journey home
Shuttle bus a must as cabs in Sorrento outrageously expensive.
Only negative is hotel is high up & you depend on shuttle bus. BUT views are stunning.
Recommend this hotel

Fabulous view and excellent service!

The Gran Paradiso came highly recommended by someone who has stayed there a number of times over the past 13 years and I can see why one would return again and again. The setting is superb - above the bay of Naples looking out towards Mount Vesuvius and that first cocktail on the terrace after a day's travelling is just the best imaginable. The staff were absolutely delightful - receptionists, waiters, bar tenders and cleaners - all were very friendly and good at their jobs. The food was tasty and the seaview room was lovely. The timing of the regular courtesy coach trips to Sorrento worked well and it was actually a pleasure to return to this peaceful hotel after a day in the city. Pool is a good size with sufficient loungers and sunshades for everyone. All told, this was a fab venue at a reasonable price.

Fabulous view

We had a lovely stay in this Hotel. Our room had a balcony overlooking the pool. The room was clean and modern with all facilities. The pool was large enough to cater for the Summer crowd with plenty of banana lounges. The breakfasts were very good with plenty of variety, although I found it a bit bizarre that food from the dinner the night before was included on the breakfast buffet. We ate lunch at the pool bar twice and were happy with our choices.
The let down was the dinner. After a 12 hour tour we decided to eat at the hotel. The choices were limited and the food was unappetizing . We tried again another night and were equally disappointed. We ate every other night in the town, and felt decidedly sorry for the people who had the dinners included in their tour packages.
The courtesy bus to town ran virtually every hour, but stopped between 5.30 and 8.45pm to virtually force you to eat at the Hotel unless you caught a taxi - which we were happy to do

absolutely amazing holiday spent at Gran Paradiso!!! Fabulous Hotel, nothing was too much trouble to ensure our stay was perfect. The views are truly breathtaking as are the sunsets. Each and every member of staff that we dealt with were friendly and happy to help with any question or query. Dinner in the evening offered a good choice of starters and mains and Salvatorre was always on hand to advise and recommend. Our room was spacious with a large balcony/terrace and was cleaned daily with change of sheets and towels. The shuttle bus service into Sorrento was excellent as taxis are quite expensive. Our first trip to Italy and definitely not our last!! We loved every second of our time spent here and can't recommend highly enough. Will most certainly be re-visiting in the not too distant future. Thank you to each and every member of staff at Art Hotel Gran Paradiso

Room was OK, but food, staff and pool terrace was excellent, breakfast was help yourself with a good variety and dinner was silver service and a a LA carte menu but we never went hungery , and the staff are brilliant

Excellent view of bay of Naples!

Advantages: The hotel is sited on a hill with fantastic views of Vesuvius and the bay of Naples, and the sunsets at dinner were spectacular. Restaurant food was very good and changed every night. Restaurant staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful, catering especially well for gluten free. Shuttle bus into Sorrento was reliable and well-looked after. Sorrento itself and the Amalfi coast are beautiful.

Disadvantages: Our room felt small and faced the back of the hotel complex, which meant there was no view from the window and no balcony. This was not highlighted when booking, and on arrival there was no opportunity to upgrade. Overall this was only a minor drawback as we spent more time by the pool.

Italian paradise

This hotel has the most amazing views but had to change rooms as room 221 was very dated (even though had majolica tiled floor )if you don't request a sea view you will get a room at the back of the hotel with Cockerels singing on a regular basis !!
The staff cannot do enough for you and once you have viewed the pool and experience eating Al fresco with the most amazing sunsets your holiday becomes quite magical.
There is a courtesy bus running hourly to take you into town .
They had a gala night on a Tuesday and a Dj on another night just wished they had music every night rather than the ambiance of the chefs radio from the kitchen !!!!!
Find it strange that's there no smoking ban as sitting outside around the pool had to move a couple of time as didn't fancy enhaling people cicarettes.
Loved the fact it was a adult only hotel and we came away feeling relaxed and spoilt.
P 's
The art in our room was up for debate !!!!

Hillside location so the shuttle bus is a must and runs regularly in to Sorrento.
Loved it

Best panoramic view!

My boyfriend and I spent a week at this wonderful hotel and didn't want to leave. We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay!
The hotel is situated at the top of a steep and windy road, which has the advantage of giving it a spectacular view over the bay of Naples. The road is difficult but manageable to climb - there is a free shuttle bus to and from the hotel also. Sorrento is a short walk from the hotel and the harbour is quite easy to find.
The hotel is wonderful, and very interesting with it being an art hotel! I found it to be very clean and up to my own high standards 😀
All the staff are friendly and helpful, but especially the waiters and the bar staff, who are wonderful!
The food is excellent, plenty of choice at the buffet breakfast, a great lunch menu, and waiter service for dinner. I enjoyed every single evening in the hotel, the food and atmosphere of eating on the terrace with a sunset was amazing!
The hotel also has wifi which I found to work perfectly all over the hotel.
If I return to Sorrento, I would love to stay here again!

This is the perfect location to stay in Sorrento

To get the full experience here first I would like to tell you which way best to arrive. If you take the ferry to Sorrento, take the red bus to the station where you will find Tempio Travel, the shuttle to the hotel arrives just outside the entrance. The shuttle to the hotel is included in the price of the hotel and drops you off and picks you up from the station multiple times of day in the high season. It is completely worth it. the hotel itself is located up high on the hill and although it is a lovely walk on the way down, it would be a struggle to get back up on foot if it weren't for the shuttle. The hotel is very beautiful and the staff is amazing. Our room was so beautiful it put a smile on my face every time we entered. We had an amazing patio connected to room with chaise lounges chairs and table with a panoramic view of Sorrento, and if there is ever a wedding be prepared to see fireworks and light displays from there at night while sipping your wine. Pay attention to the wonderful artwork that is displayed throughout the hotel as it is very unique, and thought provoking. I recommend you learn the names of the people who provide your services, they are lovely. And the breakfast buffet is lovely and huge with local sweets and savory items as well. If you like to swim in the pool, there is a beautiful one on the property and there is also a formal gala once a week. I would definitely stay here again when back in Sorrento.

Well worth a visit

Just got back from this hotel and felt the need to sing its praises especially after reading one of the other reviews which painted a negative picture.
One of which was a complaint about the waiters....Quite unbelievable as they are some of the nicest, funniest and accommodating I've ever met. OK, so a couple of them might not be on that level but that's probably because their English/French/German/Spanish /Japanese isint good enough in their opinion to have a confident conversation. But, hello, we're in Italy, WE, should be the ones making the effort to speak the language! The head waiter is very charming (Giuseppe) and he is the one to take the initial order, the next waiter does the rest of the legwork, so I can't see why someone should complain about that. My other favourites are Antonio, Euginio and Liberato (apologies for incorrect name spellings).
Also the reception staff are friendly and I had several prompt emails sorting out a birthday cake for my partner before arrival and was delivered with a lovely tune on the day. Didn't have any issues to sort out as everything was perfect. Didn't have any issues with noise particularly, apart from some inconsiderate people who let their door slam.
If I was really pushed to criticise I would say that the breakfast could do with a slight tweak with more variety on the cooked items. Yes there is a VERY steep hill, but it is do able if you are reasonably fit, you can stop a little catch, your breath, admire the view and carry on. We did it a couple or three times and the bus also picked us up as it came up half way whilst we were still on the hill, again... always accommodating. If you miss the bus it cost us 20€, not more as some one else hypothesised!
Anyway, all in all, it was great. No way should anyone put terrible.
Go and enjoy.

Promosso a pieni voti!

Accogliente e rilassante

Magnificent views

We are just about to leave this beautiful place.

On first arriving we were greeted by wonderful staff, check in was easy and the room is lovely. The views from the sea view rooms are amazing looking over Sorrento and the Bay of Naples.

The hotel runs a shuttle bus everyday into Sorrento which is great and drops off and picks up regularly. The road up to the hotel is steep so we didn't attempt it but ok if you have good fitness.

The room we had I would say was a traditional Italian design , the cleaner was fantastic clean towels everyday and she did a fantastic job. Rooms could do with tea and coffee facilities so you can have an early morning brew to watch the most amazing sunrises.

The restaurant staff are so polite and courteous and do go the extra mile if something is cooked and you don't like it not that we didn't like anything. Breakfast was disappointing and could be improved but the lunches and evening meals were beautiful. The sunsets from the terrace were some of the most beautiful I've seen.

The staff on the pool bar are great to they work efficiently and professionally at all times. Pool area was lovely and clean and pool is shallow at one end and then gradually gets deeper.

The drinks are similar prices to U.K. and the prices at the hotel are similar as to what they are in Sorrento.

We only did one trip as me and my friend were unwell so we did Herculeaum From the train station. We booked it at a shop near the railway which was 38 euros this included rail, entry to ruins and private guide who was amazing and very informative. If you want to do on your own it's really easy 6 euros for train and 13 for entrance fee. Once off the train you just walk straight to the bottom of the road and your there about 5 mins. Pompeii you get off the train and the ruins are there. If I was to come again I think I would plan more and do the trips myself it really is easy.

Thank you for a fantastic week Italy I will be returning and I wouldn't hesitate staying here again

This was a truly wonderful place to spend our honeymoon. Slightly concerned on arrival that our room felt small and the art was decidedly odd ... a portrait of a man covered in cherries adorned our wall, however , once we'd settled in , we felt comfortable. The food was good , though I always enjoyed the starter more than the main course , so I would choose two of those .. Waiting and bar staff were super , friendly and welcoming . I was often greeted to a brief dance with the maitre d on arrival to supper ! The reception staff however, were less welcoming Im afraid. There is a shuttle bus running up and down the steep hill into Sorrento town , but the hill can be walked if fit ! Sorrento is as beautiful as described and with easy access to Herculaneum and Pompeii there is plenty to see and do . But , I've saved the best to last .. the view from the terrace pool over the bay to Vesuvius was STUNNING ! We still talk about it now ! The pool was gorgeous and warm and on an evening we were treated to a display by mating fireflies❤️. I would happily stay here again

Lovely stay.

We had a lovely stay at grab paradiso. The hotel was clean. Beds were comfy. Staff very polite.
The rooms were great we had a lovely terrace with wonderful views. The only slight problem was a whistling noise we could hear on our terrace coming from one of the machinery on the roof it was very loud and came on and off. Which was shame. As the terrace was a wonderful place to sit and relax and take in the views. We were at room 410. We were offered another room but my husband wanted to stay in the room we had as he preferred the size of the terrace and the views.

Location was great. Away from the hustle and bustle but not too far. The free hotel shuttle was a great service into town.

I would definitely stay here again

Beautiful Sorrento

The hotel was clean and very comfortable staff friendly, some with poor English but others were very well spoken in English. The room was lovely clean and the balcony was large with the most amazing views of the mountains the town and the sea. The bed was comfortable although the pillows were slightly hard for my taste but my husband thought they were ok. Plenty of hot water in the shower with fantastic power not a low power like some hotels. The food was excellent good variety each day for evening meal and the waiters were very attentive. Breakfast was a large variety of food hot and cold. I would recommend this hotel to anyone my husband and I enjoyed our time there immensely. The views from the grounds was so very beautiful, also there was a very good shuttle service to the town.

Birthday break

My wife booked this hotel for a short break for my birthday as a treat. What a lovely hotel with panaormic views over the bay of Naples and Vesuvius.Room had a corner see view, was clean and comfortable. In the restaurant all the staff were first class, especially my new friend Antonio. The food was delicious and variable.A big shout out to the bar waiter Michele what a lovely accommodating guy.lovely pool area, serving food and drink all day.The only drawback is the location,it is right a the top of the hill, but they provide a minibus,12 times throughout the day, that takes you into the centre of Sorrento.but for me I like to be right in the centre full stop.would definitely recommend this hotel to adults as a getaway.

Wjat a beautiful place

My partner and I have just returned from a week away at this hotel and we honestly cant wait to go back!
The views from this hotel are so very beautful! The hotel itself is situated up a large hill but there is a free shuttle bus that goes very regularly to and from the heart of Sorrento. Also if you need a lift down for a trip or something the hotel are happy to help.
It is called the art hotel because every room is designed by a different artist and each year they are all changed. Not to mention the cool art all over the hotel.
The pool is very nice and clean.
The food is fantastic there is so much choice and variety. I suffer from a nut allergy and they always made sure everything was ok for me and even gave made me seperate desserts etc.
Now on to the best bit - the staff
The staff were oit of this world they were so friendly, kind and helpful. I really cant speak highly enough about the staff. Very special individuals and I would like to thank them for all their hard work and for making our holiday so special! x

The best!

We booked this place solely based on pictures and were not disappointed upon arrival. The views are shockingly beautiful and the atmosphere of the hotel is relaxing and luxurious. It is however a very romantic place and as two single girls, we were surrounded by couples - so if you are looking for a place to meet people and party this is not the place, it is more of a serene escape if you want a break from all that. The room was spacious, modern and very clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. There is a shuttle that runs often to take you down the hill into town where there are tons of amazing restaurants and lively places to go. If you don't want to venture into the town all the time, their in-house restaurant also serves great food and the serving staff is wonderful! We also did a day trip to Pompeii and was very easy to get to from Sorrento. Overall, a hill-top paradise is what you'll find if you stay here!

We spent 11 wonderful nights at the Gran Paradiso! The hotel, food and staff were brilliant. The room was trendy and the art around the hotel was excellent. The pool was quiet and very relaxing; enough sun beds for everyone!! The hotel is on a hill which is steep in parts but there was a shuttle bus regular throughout the day/night. We like to walking so walked the hill at least twice a day, which helped burn the calories from the delicious food!! Sorrento centre was about 1.5miles on foot from the bottom of the hill. The shuttle bus took 5mins. Be sure to explore the local area, the train station is v close to hand and a lovely beach. Enjoy

Amazing hotel and view

The hotel has an amazing view of mount Vesuvius and the bay of Naples. We had room 129 and the view was breathtaking overlooking the bay! It has a nice pool although we didn't swim since it was a little chilly. The food was great. No reservations required for dinner which was a bonus. There was always space as it's a pretty big room for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff were very friendly. The only thing I didn't like about the hotel is the room key is huge. It's not a card key it's a huge metal key and same for the safe. I wish the safe was one where you can enter a code. Other than that the hotel was clean, comfortable bed, nice staff, amazing view. I would recommend this hotel! There is shuttle service to the train station.

Good Art, great view, staff a mixed bag!

We loved the location, tucked up at the top of a hill allowing for stunning views of the water and Sorrento! The original and unusual contemporary art throughout the hotel was fantastic; more than once I had to stop to admire and contemplate the pieces! The staff was a mixed bag though; the younger lady at the front desk was so friendly and helpful, but the others were not so much, speaking to us like we were not very intelligent. The dining staff were lovely, but the bartender by the pool was pretty rude, which we just laughed off. Maybe he was having a bad day? Lackluster staff interactions aside, we loved everything about the hotel!

Vista paradisiaca, responsabile dell'hotel super professionale.
Camerieri gentili e buona colazione.
Non possiamo lamentarci di nulla, anzi!
Senza dubbio ottimo hotel da consigliare.

Wonderful place and service

We were amazed how lovely this hotel and staff were.
The rooms, reception, restaurant, corridors and pool area were spotless .
Cleaning took place daily and thoroughly.
The waiters were efficient and polite with a good sense of humour.
The views were incredible. Although it is situated up a steep hill the shuttle bus is prompt and worth it.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a quiet, relaxing time being spoilt by the location and staff.

Ottimo luogo

Nice views but needs modernising

The views from the balconies are breathtaking, right over the Bay of Naples, Vesuvius etc. Our room was perhaps a little tired but had all of the amenities you could want. The shower didn't drain properly so we were standing in a pool of water. Apart from that, the room was comfortable, if lacking somewhat in storage. The shuttle bus into Sorrento was good and much needed because the hotel is at the top of a very long, very steep hill and the taxi drivers in Sorrento are all con artists who would charge you a fortune to get into town otherwise. Generally speaking the hotel needs some modernising and I didn't care for the art. The pool is nice with some great views and the bar has some good deals on cocktails. Breakfast was nice with a good choice and the restaurant staff are very friendly. We would return to this hotel if visiting Sorrento again.

Stunning views.

Hotel management were very helpful when I had a problem with prepaid holiday cash card, rang for me so I could sort it out. Rooms cleaned daily with fresh towels supplied. Waiting staff were excellent and attentive. Guiseppe always happy and always made you feel special. Eugenio was probably the youngest waiter but very professional and good looking, lol. The food on the whole was very good although the fruit baskets were always melon which was strange as there seemed to be a larger choice of fruit at breakfast. I would highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing break with excellent staff in beautiful surroundings. Best holiday for a long time. Thanks!

Great hotel, average artwork.

Really enjoyed our stay at place, staff were super friendly and helpful. The restaurant, bar and pool have panoramic views of the sorrento, ischia, naples and Vesuvio. The sunsets are magical. Shuttle bus to town centre but only a 20 min walk downhill and 25 mins uphill as the hotel situated up a steep winding hill road. Found the art work average.

Nice hotel

This was a really nice hotel to stay in. It is located a little way out of the centre of Sorrento but the hotel provide a complimentary bus that leaves the hotel to the train station around every hour making it really easy to get to and from the main town. The pool and bar facilities were excellent and the view was really amazing! The buffet breakfast was lovely however the dinner menu, whilst fine dining and very tasty, was very limited. I tried to use the gym however it was really small and neither of the pieces of equipment requiring power (rowing machine and stepping machine) were working...overall though a very pleasant stay.

Great hotel and staff, not so much on the food.

The hotel and staff are fantastic. Couldn't fault them on anything and the hotel is based on a mountain side with an absolute beautiful view of the city and sea. Stunning.

The only problem is the food with this place, breakfast is your usual continental breakfast but lunch and dinner stay away from and go into the city.

The food we got is nothing compared to what it should be and very expensive for what it should be. A burger and chips for 15 euros, far too expensive. Especially when in the town centre I ate gnocchi for 10 euros, mixed grilled seafood for 15 euros and mussels for 10 euros as well. My partner had steak and that only came to 18 euros with fries as well.

I don't wish to put people of this hotel as its a fantastic spot, shuttle buss in to town was really good and the staff - Faultless to end of the week.

Amazing views, don’t go half board

Views amazing, easy access to town with the shuttle. Lovely old man greeted us to help with our suitcases who works harder than most probably have ever and he seems to work this hard everyday! I hope the hotel looks after him as well as he takes care of the hotel!!
The night time staff were lovely apart from one who was far too over the top, maybe to some peoples taste but he certainly needs to pick his audience!!
Pool is beautiful and there's always enough chairs! The views are simply perfect!
I didn't hear many positive comments about the food, general consensus being that it's 'okay' not eating our standard and also very greasy and swimming in butter most nights!
The rooms are as described by many, relatively old fashioned but totally fine if you're not planning on being in all the time!
Breakfast was nice to be fair although if you're expecting the English some describe you'll be disappointed as its scrambled egg and streaky bacon only with beans only on Sunday'sjQuery112409610574472036707_1523789415828? Continental spread was fab!
There's a fridge in the room but you have to pay for them to empty it if you want to use it, €10. But in the same breath they tell you you can't bring food and drinks injQuery112405565592533291089_1523798022750? Unsure, we kept snacks in our luggage with no problems.
You pay on a tab for everything so keep an eye on this, although our bill was spot on to be fair. Don't lose your provided pool towels as there's a hidden notice saying if you do its €20 per towel. We didn't use ours but for anyone going.

As for more generals, far too hot for us in August if we return it will be in May or June! Trips we did were Pompeii/Vesuvius that was amazing! Ischia that wasn't really worth the money to be honest although the thermal spas were nice! And prestige boat trip around amalfi that was lovely but I couldn't really enjoy the 2 hours left at positano because of the heat!

All in all it's an amazing area with loads to see, the hotel is lovely but I think 9/10 people would rather just be bed and breakfast as the menu is very particular in the evening. I'd visit again definitely but like I say, wouldn't pay for half board again!

Lovely hotel, quiet, friendly staff.

Lovely little hotel, not amazing and the rooms are fairly basic. But the staff are friendly, the pool is lovely and the views are great. It's fairly secluded and would be made a lot better if more shuttle buses ran, as we had to get a taxi back up after 11pm. More buses could be available in the evening to get to town earlier. Other than that, no qualms at all.

Excellent holiday

Hotel could not be placed in a better spot, out of the hustle and bustle of the centre of Sorrento, but only a 20-30 minute walk. (there is an hourly shuttle bus into the centre anyway).
We had a cliff view room which really is just a view of a wall but the room itself was spacious and clean. The only negative being their way of making it art was by shading in with pencil all of the shadows creating by the lighting fixtures..... Very odd!
The pool area was second to none with the pool itself being excellent and the views amazing!
Breakfast and lunch were excellent, traditional Italian food as you'd expect.

We did however find the dinner service to be very poor indeed. Extremely limited choice, frozen fish, altogether poor.
We had 2 meals at the hotel and after that decided eating out would be much more pleasurable.

All in all an excellent hotel with the only real downside the evening meal.

The perfect holiday in everway.

We visited here on the 12/7/2016 and was booked in for two weeks room 116 and was we disappointed most definelty not it was absolutley heaven in everyway.

The arrival greeting was very proffessional and friendly and organised and quick and easy and our cases sent to our room by a lovely old hotel man.

We chose not to upgrade to a sea view room as it would have stopped us spending all the nites on the terrace watching the different types of sunset that occured and they were beautiful in everyway.

The waiters Guiseppe,Salvatore,Roman, antonio etc were fantastic and really made it a more special holiday as we were celebrating 36yrs of marriage here.

The food i cannot fault in anyway it was beautifully presented and tasted the same, and in the 2 weeks we were there we never had the same meal twice, breakfasts were very selective in nearly everyones choice.

The room was very comfortable the bed was great to sleep in and was well air conditioned and a well stocked mini bar which did get used.

You must note and remember the situation of this hotel is up on a hill and is seviced by a shuttle bus driven by Tornio to take you into Sorrento Town hourly and daily down a long bendy narrow road but it is worth it to experience Sorrento and come back to the peace and quiet on a evening.
Sorrento is a place we visited often and explored all the main streets and back streets and ate in 10 of the lovely resturants.
Also visit the cathedrals they are stunning.

Views are to die for in the hotel with Vesuvious to the right and Naples on the horizon to which whilst we were there Versuvious give of a display of steam and on a night small flames very exciting to see twice.

We did not do any trips via our resort rep we did them ourselves and did two lovely trips to Positano and Amalfi Coast and the Isle of Capri and Sant Agnello for what they wanted for one trip.
Its very easy to use the trains/buses/boats to get around.never used a taxi so cannot tell how much they are.

Highly recommend the boat trip to the Isle of Capri and the coach trip to Amalfi Coast the views and scenery are stunning and once on Capri wow its a must to visit and explore the high class shops and try the the beautiful resturants.

Will we be visiting the hotel again most definetly and they certainly know how to look after you and make your say here special.
And i would like to thank you for organising the flowers and wine in the room for when we arrived you made our stay special.
This Hotel should not be over looked but in my opinion is not eveyone elses opinion but this is my personnel opinion and will shout aloud about our stay.

Thank you to all the management/receptionists/cleaners/waiters/bar staff/shuttle drivers you are all 1st class.

Will see you all again without hesitation.

Primo anniversario sorrentino

Raccomandato!

Pretty near to perfect.

Very good start to finish of our stay.
Bar a little pricey but that's what you get in any hotel, captive market.
Staff were exceptional, matre d' is second to none, really made us and everyone else feel more than welcome.
Food would be even better if they did more traditional Italian meals rather than aim to cater to a more anglicised menu, but that's our only gripe.
Fantastic views, lovely pool, great shuttle service into town and (mostly) no screaming kids!!!! Exceptional.
Wish we could've stayed longer. Note to anyone going here, it gets RIDICULOUSLY hot July onwards, so plan early starts to your trips out.
Most amazing place we found was a place called Regina Giovanna, fantastic hidden cove beach, ask a cabby to take you or jump on the bus and get off at Capo Di Sorrento and walk down the (very steep) path.
Best holiday so far.

Italian Waiters – Fluent in Romance

I stayed at this hotel in June with my girlfriend and we had a fantastic time. The views, rooms, pool, air conditioning and all of the other important stuff was all excellent, but it was the service that really stood out. The bar staff and waiters were truly amazing, and we fell deeply in love with Giuseppe and all of the values he represents.
I wrote him a poem, which I really hope translates into Italian.

“Buongiorno!” says he, with a glint in his eye.
“Bon jorno”, say I (well I give it a try).
He says, “come sta?” which sounds quite polite.
I want to reply but I don’t know what’s right.
He teaches me how to say, “Fine thanks, and you?”
(Giuseppe says it’s, “Bene, grazie. E tu?”)

My hand gets a shake, my wife gets a dance;
Italian waiters - fluent in romance.
He adores her dress and he praises my shirt.
We both love Giuseppe, he’s such a big flirt.

He’s charming and sweet, dressed sharp like his wit.
“Anywhere in particular you’d like to sit?
It’s a beautiful day, why not sit in the sun?”
We both love Giuseppe, because he’s number one.

He walks – no he glides – to a table for two,
In a beautiful spot with a beautiful view,
I ask for some help; I don’t know my wine.
“Well sir, the Montepulciano’s divine”.
When I order us two he says, “Yes certainly,
But I take it that you mean two bottles sir, si?”

I order the chicken which sounds a delight.
He says with a wink, “Do you like left breast or right?”
I know it’s a joke but it catches me out.
We both love Giuseppe, of that there’s no doubt

Giuseppe’s a man with a joke up his sleeve,
I don’t want to go, but on Friday we leave.
He was funny and kind, he was clever and peppy.
We’re sure going to miss him, we both love Giuseppe.

Modern well-equipped hotel with great staff – just a little bit out of town..

We enjoyed a ten day stay at the Art Hotel Gran Paradiso in Sorrento during late July and took five rooms so that our family could join us for our wedding at the Chiostro di San Francesco.

This is ot the prettiest of hotel but this doesn’t matter, first impressions are very good with a smart reception greeting us with an easy checking in process and a hard working porter who whisked our cases to the room.

Our room on the second floor was a good size double that was modern, immaculately clean, and had a large terrace with distant views across the bay and a very smart, modern ensuite shower room. Some nice touches included branded slippers, mini bar, pool blankets, hairdryer, safe, good free WiFi, air-conditioning and a modern wall mounted TV that included a number of English speaking channels. Our room was nicely decorated with framed art and we were very pleased with the overall standard.

It is worth noting that if you choose a room on the first floor then you will not get any views other than of a wall and the neighbouring vines – which disappointed other guests we spoke to. Having taken five rooms we were able to see a varying quality to the art in each room with one being simple pieces of paper with sketches attached to the wall – not quite my style but maybe I just didn’t get it. However, our group were very happy with their rooms which again otherwise well equipped and appointed. Tip - just pay a little extra and get a room on the 2nd floor or higher and with sea views; well worth it.

Meals were served within the dining room or on the terrace and the latter is a really lovely place to dine. Breakfasts were very good with a wide choice of croissants or pastries; cooked options such as scrambled egg, bacon, etc; fruit, yogurts and so much more. Food is self-service with waiter service providing coffee/tea.

Evening meals were three course each night and always of a very high standard with really friendly and enjoyable waiter service – really excellent service in fact. The quality of cuisine was very high with a new menu each evening perhaps except for the deserts which are far too sweet for me. Live music/DJ added some entertainment for the evenings around the pool bar whilst enjoying their daily cocktail special offer.

The pool is large (and a lovely temperature!) and, being an adults only hotel, there is a certain calm than enables you to really relax. The setting overlooks the Bay of Naples with panoramic views across the town, mountains and across the bay to Vesuvius.

This setting does mean that you are on a steep hillside setting and a good ten minutes drive from the town centre. However, the hotel lays on a free and regular shuttle service throughout the day that we made very good use of. A relatively short walk down the hill is a stretch of some small shops and bars but the walk back is a killer!

The only negatives were that whilst most of the reception staff were really pleasant, there were a couple whom we found very frosty and the lunches were too large and too expensive.

Overall this hotel will appeal if you want a high standard of accommodation, very good service, lovely views and a peaceful place to sunbath. If you want to be in the heart of the town then try elsewhere.

We would very much recommend this hotel.

Angenehmer Aufenthalt

This hotel is fabulous! It's at the top of a steep hill which means you need the hotel minibus to get out and about but it's worth it for the views. They are breathtaking.
We had a superior sea view room which was really big with a huge balcony overlooking Sorrento Bay...Naples, Vesuvius, Ischia Island all visible. Sunsets are stunning.
Staff are very helpful. Hotel is very clean. Pool is gorgeous. Food is good with dining inside or out. Only niggle re food is no fresh fish. Plenty of loungers and pool bar is beautiful area.
Limited entertainment but enough.

Exclusive hill top views

Loved the infinity pool and the view at the top of the hill overlooking the Bay of Naples. Dining on deck for breakfast and dinner also provided the wonderful view.

A few things though were annoying... of course you had to take the shuttle up and down, but that was worth it to have such a great view. The hotel charged a fee for if you wanted to bring your own food on. In hindsight, that would have been more economical if you're on a budget and don't want the fancy dining experience every night. The other thing that annoyed me was the key to the room. You have to put the key in the slot by the door to turn the power on, but without lights I couldn't see the keyhole in the door in order to open the door to get out of the room. We used our cellphone for the flashlight.

So aside from those little annoyances, this was a good hotel in a great location.

Our third visit –we will back again!

This was our third visit in 4 years to the Gran Paradiso. Fortunately very little has changed, and it remains a superb location for a quiet, relaxed holiday.

The staff here are really superb. All f them are friendly and helpful, but the waiting staff, led by the impeccable Giuseppe, are just fantastic, and great fun too.

Excellent food is on offer at breakfast, lunch and dinner, and there is a regular shuttle service down the steep hill to central Sorrento.

A great location for couples looking for a quiet break.

Only one small complaint - the dress code for gentlemen at dinner (no shorts) is being allowed to slip, which is a shame in this traditional, elegant location.

Fabulous hotel

Have just returned form a fantastic stay at Art Hotel Gran Paradiso with my 16 year old daughter and already can't wait to return! The view from the hotel over the bay of Naples is truly spectacular. The hotel is modern with a nod to traditional Italian features such as painted tiles and is also spotlessly clean. The staff are friendly, polite and welcoming. A courtesy bus is available to take guests into the middle of Sorrento and runs very frequently each day. From the restaurant terrace and bar area you can see the most beautiful sunset every evening. We will definitely be going back to this beautiful hotel!

Good base for exploring

Just come back from 2 weeks at the hotel. Very clean with airy rooms, we had a cliff view room when we checked in but the view was more of a garden wall than a cliff so we upgraded to a sea view at a price and had a lovely small balcony.
Balcony useful to sit on in the day when the pool was really busy (first week of our stay was quiet, got very busy after schools broke up).
Food was underwhelming- frozen meat and veg and not much variety. Waiting staff were a mixed bag- one waiter had a tantrum with us one evening for sitting at a table that hadn't been made up- but we'd been waiting for a long time for a table on the terrace...
Hotel is far from town (in San Agata rather than Sorrento) but it's a great location for exploring the Amalfi Coast and Bay of Naples. We hired a car for the stay and it made our holiday- would have been miserable experience waiting for hotel and SITA buses.
Hotel has a lovely view but wouldn't recommend sitting by it all day as there is so much to discover beyond what Thomas Cook excursions etc offer- Maria Del Cantone, Bagni Di Regina Giovanna, Naples' Centro Storico, loads more.

Not sure the art in the hotel is actually art... Our first room had a truly ugly drawing on the wall that was done in red biro, black biro and smudged pencil- unpleasant to look at. A lot of the other 'art' feels like emperors new clothes. Apart from that the hotel was really great, including really helpful and friendly reception staff.

Beautiful hotel

Hotel has magnificent views over the bay of Naples, Sorrento and the Island of Capri so it is worth upgrading to a sea view room. The hotel is small and family run. Adults only, no 'animation' and tasteful entertainment in the evenings make for a quiet, relaxing holiday. Forget the chaos of those all inclusive buffet style meals - Breakfast is a calm buffet style and evening meal is waiter service from a lovely menu. The hotel's shuttle bus takes you into Sorrento and is free so you can enjoy the views and still access the town easily. Would recommend this hotel.

Wonderful honeymoon

Just returned from our honeymoon at Art Hotel Gran Paradiso and feel completely relaxed and rejuvenated! The hotel was beautiful, clean and modern with a retro art deco feel. The staff were wonderful; efficient, friendly, good fun and made us feel very special; we met at least 3 couples who had returned up to 14 consecutive times to the hotel which says it all! The food was fantastic; normally on a half board holiday, we eat out a few times but nowhere else could compete with the amazing views, relaxed ambience, service and food so we only ventured out once. We had a 3rd floor room with a large terrace which had stunning views of the bay and Sorrento. Thomas Cook were great, Jeanie was efficient and friendly and everything from beginning to end ran like clockwork. We fell in love with beauty, charm and history of Sorrento and definitely recommend the free Sorrento Walk About with Thomas Cook as the guided showed us some hidden treasures in the town (try the Foreigners Bar!) We also visited the harbour and spent a few days sunbathing on loungers on the rocks out at sea which was fab 🙂 We did Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius in 1 day which, although was tiring, was better to do both in 1 day as we didn't feel you needed a full day at either and it was soooo hot... take lots of water! Our Amalfi boat trip was cancelled due to slight breeze (!?) but we're going back next year so we'll do it then! It is a walk from the hotel down the hill and along road into the centre of Sorrento (about 20-30 mins) and the hill is a bit treacherous to walk up and down with passing cars on the corners and we would've struggled to have carried back bottles of water etc so the hotel puts on a shuttle bus every hour. If you need to be central, this is the only draw back... however it is quieter being away from the centre and high up. If you need lots of noise and activity, this may not be the place for you. We loved it as you could hear a pin drop... very peaceful and quiet round the pool, at dinner and at night time we got a full nights sleep with no loud returning to rooms and doors banging! It was an amazing holiday, we will definitely return and cant wait to spend another evening sitting drinking cocktails watching the sky turn a thousand different colours as it sets over 40 minutes... sooooo beautiful! Recommend x 100000000000 for peaceful relaxing beautiful holiday! Oh and no kids made a huge difference!

Lovely views, beautiful food

On a hill at edge of Sorrento but bus ferries guests into centre of town about 8 times a day
We did not choose half board but ended up eating most evening in the hotel anyway as food was so good
Staff were friendly and helpful
Very peaceful compared to hustle and bustle of downtown

Just back from a week's stay at the Gran Paradiso. I can't fault anything about this hotel. The food, staff, location...excellent ❤️ if you're looking for a totally relaxing, stress free holiday then this is the hotel for you. The panoramic view of the Gulf of Naples is amazing. The sunsets are to die for. The hotel is situated just far enough away from the centre of Sorrento, so you get the choice of peace & quiet at the hotel mixed with the busy vibrancy of Sorrento. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel.

A great hotel with a perfect view

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for 7 nights and had a great time.
We booked through Thomas Cook and found the whole process to be straightforward and stress free, the hotel was the first drop off and we changed over to the hotel minibus quickly and smoothly.

The minibus runs regularly throughout the day and the driver is so kind and friendly.
Check in was swift and welcoming and our bags were taken up to our room, we stayed in room 106 and has a side sea view.
The room was perfect for what we were after, the bathroom was spacious and the air con worked a dream.
There is a white, electric shutter that comes down covering the window and keeps the room cool and dark. I slept like a log!

The pool and views are amazing and definitely worthy of the trips up and down the steep hill into town, which are not an issue at all with the minibus. There were plenty of loungers round the pool each day and the pool was always spotlessly clean!

The breakfast was great, so much choice with endless hot and cold options available. The coffee was always fresh, hot and tasty.

We ate in the restaurant each night and really enjoyed every dish we had. I'm not hesitant to say I can be a fussy eater but there are plenty of different options each day for starter, main and pudding and I was more than happy with everything I had!

All the staff we met were friendly and welcoming. The restaurant staff are great, so attentive and run the place smooth like clockwork. I have to make a mention of Antonio, Michele and Domenico who were so much fun and loveable!! We didn't have a single meal without someone making us smile or laugh.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone and would love to go back!

Friendly atmosphere & beautiful views

I've just returned home after spending a week there with my girlfriend and I didn't want to come home. The views from the balcony and swimming pool area are beautiful. The staff are very friendly and helpful, from the waiters to the receptionists and drivers that did the shuttle bus run into town. The food was really nice and and the service was always prompt and friendly.

I would definitely recommend it to any couples looking for a nice, relaxing holiday.

Fin utsikt, fine rom, stusselig mat

Bodde her 4 netter i juli.

Hotel situato a Sorrento.
Consigliatissimo. ..Anche solo per un week end rilassante...

The room was simple but tastefully furnished, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. We had a beautiful 4th floor view over the bay.
The staff were all very friendly, helpful and totally professional. We particularly liked to see the restaurant staff so smartly attired. Just wish they would remind some diners of the dress code for evening dinner.
Menus were varied, expertly prepared and professionally presented. Delicious.
The pool was absolutely beautiful, warm water, plenty of space and lots of sunbeds and quality parasols. No children meant peace and quiet.
The shuttle buses were very good, always punctual and very convenient.
We thoroughly recommend the Art Hotel Gran Paradiso.

Stunning views from this lovely hotel

We booked a distant sea view room. Lovely large terrace and a stunning sea view from the side of the hotel. Room 301. Worth the small extra cost for a sea view. The staff were all very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The pool with its sea view was
great with the tempreture hitting 36. AirCon in room worked really well so able to get a good sleep. This room has a shower but not a bath which pleased us. Free bus up and down the hill on almost an hourly basis. We would have no hesitation in staying here again.

Lovely hotel

Just got back from a weeks stay at the hotel & had a fabulous time.
Of course no hotel is perfect, I doubt if I stayed at the Ritz that I would give it 100% but as holiday hotels go then this is a good one.
Ok so there were a few niggles, there always is but they are personnel to me & the wife & I accept that other people's niggles are another persons blessing.

Our niggles first before the good stuff.

No tea/coffee making in the rooms , this is an Italian thing for some reason so I can forgive it, just be aware of it if you like a cuppa in the morning in your room.

The shuttle bus could do with running a tad more frequent in the afternoon, it runs every hour in the morning until 1:00 then goes to about every hour & forty, a bit strange, they provide a time table so just plan your day round it.

That's it for my niggles, yes it's on a steep hill, it is walkable, take your time, enjoy the view as you climb.

Prices in the bar/lunch are comparable with other Restuarants & bars in the town, drinks maybe a euro more for some but it's give & take really.

We found the food to be good, the waiters friendly and had a nice time.

Would I go back again ? Yes if I needed to stay in sorrento but life's to short to go back to the same place twice but I would recommend to a friend, just bear in mind the hill. But those views, wow.

Just one thing we were not told about, not the hotels fault but our travel agent is that there is a city tax of €21 to be paid.

Schitterend verblijf

We stayed at Art Hotel Gran Paradiso late April with a group of about 21 and everyone had positive comments about the hotel. The staff was all very accommodating and pleasant. The rooms were clean and most of us had sizable balconies with wonderful ocean views. The one negative was the dinner that we had there. It was one of the worst meals that we had in all of Italy!

Lovely Ocean views and great balcony

The art in each of the rooms varies and ours was not something I would want to live with and thankfully I didn't have to for long. Sometimes in trying to be avant-garde you end up offending people's senses instead of enriching them.
The hotel is way up on a hillside far removed from all the goings on in Sorrento, so if that type of accessibility is important to you, you may want to factor that in when booking here.
One thing that has to be said about this location is that the sunsets are stunning!

Family holiday

Having arrived at this hotel after a nightmare of a journey, care of EasyJet! We were feeling very exhausted. The hotel dealt with our problem very efficiently, and quickly. We were made to feel very welcome, as they understood what we had been through.
The restaurant staff were very friendly, professional and very efficient, starting with Giuseppe
and Salvatore. Our usual waiter Domenico, was very attentive. They were all great fun!
The views are absolutely stunning, photos do not justify the place enough.
All the staff, from reception to the cleaners, were all fantastic!
I cannot recommend this hotel enough, an incredibly brilliant holiday, I will be going back!
As a person who is in the catering industry, I do appreciate a well run hotel with good food.

Nice hotel

This Hotel is a great base for travellers who want to be away from the noise of the town of Sorrento. It is situated at the top of a steep hill, which will not suit people with walking difficulties. There is a frequent shuttle bus that drops off an collects from the Station.
The rooms are clean, bright and airy. We arrived in the early hours due to delays with our flight, and we were pleasantly surprised to find two plates of chilled food in our room.(nice touch)
The restaurant serves good Italian Fayre and the waiters are very attentive. All in all a good hotel. Well done!!

Our lovely holiday

We went to Sorrento Italy recently and stayed in The Art Gran Paradiso Hotel. We were made very welcome by all the staff on reception as soon as we arrived. Our hotel had the most amazing views overlooking the bay of Naples and the stunning view of Mount Vesuvius. We went half-board which consisted of breakfast and an evening 3 course meal. Our waiters for the week were Guiseppe Head Man, Salvetori, Antonio, Roman, Michele, Eugenio & many others. The views are stunning but the sunsets are out of this world. The hotel is situated on top of a hill which isn't as steep as it looks but a courtesy bus is provided to take you into Sorrento Town Centre & pick you up at certain times.

Robert T. 02/06/2016

Thank you! 🙂

This hotel has to be in the best location! The view can be seen in many of the pictures posted already, but don't really do it justice, or show how spectacular the sunsets are.
Some people have mentioned that the food wasn't as expected, and I can understand the point, but have to say that I thought it was fine. The staff throughout the hotel are great, the restaurant staff were always having fun with the guests, and nothing was too much trouble.
One odd comment that I've seen was about the waiters buzzing around with trolleys and making too much noise. Both my wife and I thought the trolleys worked very well, and were very efficient, and in no way an issue.
The best tip for this hotel has been mentioned many times and that is PAY FOR A ROOM WITH A DISTANT SEA VIEW...they are amazing. The sea is only distant as you are above it. The view across the bay to Naples and Vesuvius is stunning. There are rooms around the back that look at a wall so I know which I'd rather have.
The hotel run a shuttle bus service which works very well. You could walk, but the hill is steep and narrow, and without pavements.
There are wifi extenders outside almost every room (or there where on the 1st floor were we were, so the wifi is great. Don't expect to stream films, but a great connection.
Finally, if your are thinking of going to Pompeii, take the train from Sorrento, rather than a trip organised by your rep. The train costs 4.40 euros return each. Its a bargain. You can also buy walking tour tickets at the station...well worth it.
We will definitely visit here again

Beautiful view

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights arriving on 15th June.

Firstly, although the hotel is only a short drive from the centre of Sorrento, it would take some time to walk and is located up a fairly steep hill. However, the hotel does run a free shuttle bus to Sorrento train station and back, which is very convenient and useful as taxi's can be expensive - we paid 30Euro back from Sorrento Harbour.

We arrived at the hotel at lunchtime and were checked into our room immediately. First impressions of the hotel were excellent, with an clean and modern reception with interesting art work and a view through to the pool/restaurant area and Vesuvius/Bay of Naples. Check in was easy and our bags were carried up to our room. The room had an amazing view of the pool and Vesuvius beyond and did not disappoint from the pictures we had seen on line.

We enjoyed lunch at the pool area and when we returned to the room found that the staff had left a bottle of wine for my birthday : ). We found prices to be very reasonable at the restaurant and bar, I think a bottle of prossecco was about 15-19euros.

Although the weather was hot whilst we were there, the rooms were well ventilated and we didn't have to use the air con once.

Staff spoke excellent English and were very helpful booking taxis and answering questions via email before our arrival. In fact the day we checked out we booked a taxi to Naples (which was slightly cheaper booked through the hotel) and realised we had left a mobile phone in there. We called the hotel and they quickly contacted the driver and we got the phone back within 20 minutes which we were very grateful for.

My only slight criticisms are that it would be useful for the shuttle bus to run more often as sometimes we found ourselves having to catch a taxi to avoid waiting an extra hour. Also, the 'fitness room' is very basic but to be honest we were there for so little time we wouldn't have been able to make use of it anyway.

Excellent breakfast included with the room and we would definitely return to this hotel next time we visit Sorrento. Only wish is that we had more time to enjoy the hotel itself.

Great stay

An excellent hotel.
The room i stayed in had the distant sea view. A small balcony with 2 chairs and table. The bathroom has a large powerful shower and a hairdryer attached to the wall with a well lit vanity mirror for you ladies. The beds are comfy and ample pillows are supplied. There is also a tv with the standard free view channels. Breakfast there is a large variety to choose from. Lunch and evening meals are served in the restuarnt the is quite nice. The swimming pool is of medium size but not heated so be brave if you take the plunge.
There is a free shuttle bus to and from the hotel ran by the hotel. All in all this is a very pleasant hotel with great staff

Fantastic hotel!

Stayed here for 3 nights with my family ... Best hotel in Italy for us (out of 5 hotels we stayed in) for this trip .... Perfect view of the Tyrrhenian Sea, great restaurant food (with extensive tour package menu), new and clean rooms and good guest service ... notwithstanding the trouble of having to take the free shuttle bus everytime we need to get out (as the hotel sits on a hill).

This was my first holiday on my own. What a grate choice the hotel was immaculately clean and the rooms were spacious and bright. The staff throughout were friendly and very helpful the dining room staff were good fun in a very nice way and made one feel very comfortable and at ease. Sorrento is a beautiful town ten minuets from the hotel on the hourly courtesy bus in and out of the town, you could walk in it would probably take about 20 minutes at a reasonable pace. The hotel is on the hillside with rooms over looking the bay. I will go back 7 days wasn't long enough. Wonderful holiday but two weeks next time. I did three trips Capri, Pompeii Herculaneum, and the Amalfi coast experience. Well worth the money. No children in this hotel its adult only which made it
peaceful and calm.

Great place!

In the evening we had dinner at the restaurant of the hotel which it was a bit disappointing , we took the menu of the day which was just boring and taste less , something where over cooked and not good enough for a 4 star hotel . Though we have to mention - the waiters were fabulous.
We would definitely come back to the hotel but for sure not to the restaurant .

Beautiful views, great food, friendly staff!

This hotel is situated high on the hills of Sorrento and has a beautiful view over the bay of naples. We booked a normal room but were upgraded to a sea view for free and the view from the balcony was stunning. The rooms themselves are basic, and could do with some extra lighting especially in the bathroom, but they were large and very spacious. The fruit platter on arrival was another nice touch. Dinner and breakfast at the hotel were great, with a varying menu, and there was live music in the foyer. All the staff were friendly too especially those in the dining room!

Charming hotel with outstanding views

Great little hotel, which can't really be beaten for Sea Views of the bay of Naples - be sure to book a room that gives you one! Very helpful desk staff and the hotel was spotless throughout. Some may find the rooms a little basic but this wasn't a problem for my wife and I, and the bathroom was very clean and modern. Breakfast is buffet-style and offers a good range of items.
The only slight drawback is that you're constrained somewhat by the shuttle bus timetable - the hotel is at the top of a stiff climb and some way out of the centre of Sorrento in St. Agnelli. However, the shuttle is pretty frequent (and the driver is ever-cheerful!) it's easy to work round this. Recommended!

Resort style stay overlooking Gulf of Naples

This is a resort hotel, Beautiful view from the large pool. Service is excellent. Excellent menu, different each evening offering choice of two entrees and sides. Servers treat you like you're special (be sure to tip them before you leave). Use the shuttle to get to/from town. You can't walk to this hotel. Rooms are stark modern, with interesting art in each room. The artist's name is on each door.

The most stunning view in Sorrento

Room 304 offered the most fabulous view! The room was adequate in size and had a decent size balcony which had the sun in the afternoon. Lovely swimming pool with plenty of sun loungers. The staff were super friendly and very helpful in every way. The hotel is situated very high above Sorrento but there is a free shuttle bus which leaves several times a day and picks you up from a designated point. The hotel is very quiet (which suited us!) and is far away from the hustle and bustle of Sorrento. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice. Lunches and dinner were less enjoyable but there are plenty of places to eat in Sorrento itself. When booking this hotel always choose a sea view room - it is well worth the small extra charge. I would definitely come back to this hotel on a bed and breakfast basis. Thank you to all the staff for making our holiday so enjoyable.

Beautiful hotel with views to die for 

My husband and I have just returned from a wonderful 7 day stay at the Art Hotel Gran Paradiso. We cannot recommend the hotel too much , the hotel staff from cleaners to the manager are helpful, pleasant and we cannot praise them enough for making this holiday one of our most memorable and a special mention for the restaurant staff Salvatore, Guisseppe and all the waiters again very polite and helpful.

Our recommendation would be to pay the extra for sea view room as the cost is well worth it for the view across the Bay of Naples and the wonderful sunset.

Return visit another delight

We returned to Gran Paradiso in June 2016 after an excellent experience in the summer of 2015. Our good faith was fully justified. I can add nothing to the comments about the quality of the service, the food, the view and the service; I can only repeat the remarks that a sea-view is well worth the extra. Room 129 was large, necessary to fit the massive bed made by pushing two smaller ones together, but no problems arose. The balcony had two chairs, a table and two sun-loungers, reducing the temptation to sunbathe by the pool. My partner thought this was wonderful, like an infinity pool. We are discussing the period before we return .....

Relaxing Hotel great views

Sorrento and the Amalfi coast are busy areas with lots of traffic mainly scooters and coaches, this Hotel is in an elevated position with probably the best views of the Bay of Naples and Versouvious that you can get. The Hotel is adult only the staff are great and always there to help. Food we can not fault all in all the Hotel was better than we had expected. Thanks to all the staff there who helped to make our stay so nice. The surrounding areas are real tourist attractions Pompeii was something else a real step back in history to 79AD, Amalfi however was overcrowded the jewel in that area was Ravello a small place up in the hills. Less busy as an attraction and away from the masses. The Hotel we could not find fault with and the Sunsets were awesome.

Nice hotel with excellent staff

We have just returned from a week at the Art Hotel Gran Paradiso and we really enjoyed it. All the staff are friendly and helpful especially the restaurant staff.
Our room had a large balcony with a sea view, I would recommend a sea view as otherwise the views are quite restricted. The room was quite basic but very clean, with air conditioning and nicely decorated with art. The bathroom was fairly modern with a large shower cubicle and hair dryer.
The pool area is beautiful and has stunning views out towards the bay of Naples and Vesuvius.
The food throughout our stay was good. Especially breakfast where there is a good selection of cereals, fruit and continental. However, probably not good for someone looking for a full English (always amazes me the people that expect this wherever they go!) I did hear some people grumbling about the menu choices on an evening but I think you would have to be extremely fussy to not find something to your taste. 4 or 5 choices of first, second and dessert courses which were different every night.
The shuttle bus is very regular and is great for getting to and from town.
The only negatives we found were that there is very little sound proofing in the rooms so it was very noisy on a night/early morning with doors banging and loud conversation. You can also hear other people's light switches and toilets being flushed. Also there isn't much in the way of entertainment on an evening just sometimes a horrendous DJ who plays a very strange combination of music. Sitting outside is ok but if it's cold and you choose to sit inside it's quite bright and canteen like.
Other than that, a nice experience and we would stay there again.

Stunning views

Sea room view with fantastic balcony well worth the upgrade. The views are stunning over the bay of naples. Quiet location about a mile and half out of town so the shuttle bus is a must, which runs very frequently. Staff could not have been more helpful or friendly.

Lovely hotel, fantastic views and brillant service

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a week in May 16. We were pleasantly surprised with the hotel. The food was superb, staff very friendly, the hotel was clean and the pool lovely. The views are beautiful. The hotel has a good location to act as a base to visit all of the sights which Sorrento has to offer. Ignore the comments on here about the hill being too steep to walk up, so long as you are fit and healthy it's no problem, and for those less able or choosing to avoid the walk (but risk Italian roads!) the shuttle bus is very frequent and reliable. We would definitely recommend this hotel, we had a lovely stay!

Stunning views from a great hotel.

Stayed in a sea-view room-had stunning views over the Bay Of Naples-well worth the upgrade. Shuttle bus to town ran smoothly. Staff very professional and friendly. Food good, served by excellent restaurant staff.Lovely pool area, again with superb views.
Excellent base for exploring the region with all transport connections close by in Sorrento.
Would highly recommend this hotel.

Beautiful view, Ok location

There were many things we liked about this hotel, and some things we wish were different. The best aspect of this hotel is the view. It has a gorgeous view of the sea and a great pool to enjoy on your trip to the coast (our stay did not boast great weather, but I know it WOULD have been great if the weather would have complied). The hotel staff, particularly the restaurant staff, were friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was the best offered to us for our whole trip touring Italy. The room was clean and a decent size. A few negatives would be the distance to the town center. The view means you're located pretty high on a hill, a prime example of not having your cake and eating it to. The hotel does offer a great and reliable shuttle pretty often, but not often enough during dinner time. The room was very sparse and the bed was only moderately comfortable. I would recommend this hotel to travelers looking for a great view of the sea that don't mind relying on a shuttle to get in and out of town.

Great Hotel and Location

This hotel is the best, the food, staff, location, views etc are excellent, one word of warning though, the 'cliff facing' rooms actually look out at either a wall about 10 feet from the room or if your on a higher floor, you can see some rubbishy back gardens, definitely no cliff, and no sunshine ever comes to call, the balcony is probably useful if you smoke but that is all. Check before you go and try to book a sea or side sea view room, if you try to move when you arrive they will charge you 25 euros per person per night....The view from the room didn't really spoil our stay as you would not want to sit in the room with the views on offer from the terrace. The only other draw back is the distance from the town of Sorrento, there is a courtesy bus which runs hourly more or less until 11pm, with a few breaks, or you can walk it in about 30mins (the walk back is a challenge though as its almost straight up). Bar bills are accumulated as you go by signing a ticket so no cash changes hands until you go to reception to pay what you owe so it would be easy overspend if your not careful, the only 'free' drinks are at breakfast (which is self service and adequate).

“Loved this Hotel”

Just returned after staying a week at The Paradiso and loved every minute . The room was amazing ( 402 ) and the food was excellent , was a bit worried about previous reviews about the breakfasts but I honestly don't know what people are looking for as there was plenty to eat . The staff in the Restaurant are just so on top of everything , nothing was a problem . The room we had was big with huge bed , great shower and amazing views and spotless clean . The hotel also offers a bus that takes you and collects you from town which is a great free service with such a pleasant driver . Will definetly be returning to this Hotel.

Absolutely adored this hotel!

Don't listen to the negative reviews on here - this hotel is incredible! I can't for the life of me figure out why it isn't rated 5/5 on here. Because it's at the top of a hill, the hotel has stunning panoramic views of the bay of Naples, Sorrento, mount Vesuvius, Capri and Ischia from the pool/ sea view rooms. We heard that the view from this hotel is one of the best in Sorrento.

The staff at the hotel were so kind and friendly and happy to help you in anyway they could. The restaurant staff in particular did everything they could to make you feel welcome and even to make you laugh during meals!

This hotel is slightly out of central Sorrento - it's located in Sant'Agnello which is next to Sorrento. It's easy enough to walk into town and will take you about 20 mins at average pace. The hotel provides a shuttle bus service to and from Sorrento pretty much every hour to help out with the massive hill.

Honestly I can't recommend this hotel enough. It has everything you could want in a hotel with the added benefit of breath taking views from the balcony!

Superb from start to finish

We were celebrating our 25 wedding anniversary and we couldn't have picked a better hotel on our budget. Top quality service from each and every member of Massimos team . A very special dining atmosphere led by the charismatic Giuseppe and waiter Antonio. Chiara in reception was extremely helpful. The food was varied and beautifully cooked. The views are superb with the exception of the back of the hotel but we were lucky and were moved when a better one was available. All in all a well run and would recommend this hotel every time.

Wonderful view, outstanding dinning room service, but not all Oceanside rooms are not created equal

The hotel is overlooking Sorrento. The view is beautiful! The hotel is clean, quiet and the staff is helpful especially the dinning room which takes pride and gives outstanding service. The hotel is bright and has many art pieces to enjoy. I was dispoinnted in my upgrade ocean view room which was very small room/bath and the balcony which only held two chairs and a table. I asked for a different room but none was available. Other travel companion had large balconies and larger room. Shuttle staff was nice but remember this hotel is not close to town. Taxi was 20-25 Euros if needed or wanted.

Lujo y vista impresionante

Also das Beste zuerst:

I am currently staying here for two weeks. I have to disagree with the stupid negative comments on here. The staff here are lovely and will always accommodate you. I suggest people book excursions through Thomas cook because not only do they arrange for you to be dropped at the bottom of the hill to meet your bus but they come and meet you at the end of your excursion no matter what time it is. The gentlemen who drive the shuttle are well mannered and are very patient amidst horrific driving conditions as the road is so small. The food is beautiful and the only reason I have gone to eat elsewhere some nights is because I fancied a change. The trips are amazing and the views spectactular. I recommend the Amalfitano coast and positano to visit. And Capri is a must also as well as anacapri. On the whole I am more than satisfied with my stay and will come back in the near future.

Definitely a Million Dollar View!

We really enjoyed our visit here, so much so we actually stayed and extra night. The views from the terrace/pool area are absolutely incredible. Also, our room had a private balcony with lounge chairs and a love seat and the view from it was awesome also. We had dinner there a couple of times and breakfast every morning and the food was consistently good. There is a shuttle bus to take you back and forth from the town as it would be quite a walk up the hill to the Hotel. The staff was pleasant and helpful and the room was very clean. I can hardly wait to head back and stay there again!!

In PARADISO siamo coccolati...

I LOVED this place more than anywhere else I have ever stayed. We had just come from a less stellar hotel experience and it was the best feeling walking into this beautiful place.

Lovely hotel, outstanding views and location

Lovely hotel, small but adequate and clean room, spectacular panoramic views of the town, mountains, bay and Vesuvius. You are up a rather large hill which means you are reliant on the shuttle bus but it is well worth it as the views are breathtaking! The staff were happy and helpful, the hotel is lovely on the inside, the pool area is also lovely with amazing views over the bay, town and Vesuvius. The hotel is a little tired on the outside but everything that matters was perfect. Pay extra for a sea view and, if possible, ask for room 408. A special thank you to the shuttle bus driver who was always happy to see you and helpful.

Best hotel and holiday EVER !!!!

Just back from this hotel in Sorrento. My husband and 2 sons aged 17 and 21 booked this hotel for my 50th birthday as I had always wanted to visit Sorrento When we arrived,we were told that we had been upgraded to 2 Sea View rooms. I was amazed that this hotel was so beautiful and our view was STUNNING. Our rooms were immaculate and the food was great I cannot praise this hotel highly enough. Friendly, helpful staff and a shuttle bus to take you up and down the hill to Sorrento below. I had a fantastic, unforgettable 50th birthday. We visited Sorrento, Pompeii, the Amalfi Coast and Capri, BEST HOTEL AND HOLIDAY EVER.

Nice hotel a distance from Sorrento

Service, room and views were excellent. We were given a beautiful room with views of the coast. There are a couple of draw backs with this hotel, the shuttle bus service is not frequent after 6:30 with the only two other possible times to get back to the hotel at 9 and 11 pm. The food for our set dinner was also below average but reasonably priced. The hotel staff are friendly and helped us out with our transfers. Hotel is beautiful, our room (although unique) had a modern bathroom with spectacular views of the coast and Mt. Vesuvius

Colazione molto buona e abbondante, personale simpatico, gentile e disponibile soprattutto i camerieri! Molto bella la terrazza con la piscina! Nel complesso davvero un bel l'hotel

L'Art...e in ogni angolo

Very good food (breakfast and dinner). Helpful (and can speak English) staff. Beautiful view. We asked for a room with beautiful view - got the best view (room 408) and double bed with separate sheets (two duvets) and they were in the room. Shuttle bus to the city was good.
- Driving to the hotel was trough a narrow street. Parking is difficult but the staff was helpful (they parked for us).

Personale gentile e disponibile: receptionist, camerieri ecc. Tutto sommato il rapporto qualità prezzo è buono!

Consigliatissimo.

Travelling with the choir!

This hotel was beautiful and the staff was very attentive! We were traveling with 60 college students and everyone from the managers to the waitstaff were friendly and accommodating. If I can lend a suggestion--there needs to be bigger shower doors on the tubs as it was hard to shower without flooding the bathroom(only issue). Everything else was wonderful, the view, the beds, the food etc.

I stayed here for a week at the end of October and I would have been overjoyed to have stayed longer. The hotel is at the top of a steep hill (I walked up twice so I do know how steep it was) however, there is a shuttle service and that works very well with frequent trips up and down. The views from the hotel are outstanding - truly gorgeous. We were lucky to have a very large room and balcony which overlooked the sea and we woke up to the sight of Vesuvious every morning which was amazing.
The weather was pretty good and we spent half a day sitting poolside in the sun taking in the views which I don't think I would ever get bored of.

The food was good although being in Italy I think I did expect better but it was very nice all the same and the waiters were friendly and helpful. Head waiter Guiseppe is particularly memorable.

The hotel's courtesy bus drops off at the railway station and it's very easy to make your own way to Pompeii and Herculaneum from here. The train itself is an experience - sardines have lots of room compared to this train in the rush hour!

Wonderful hotel with amazing staff

My second time in Sorrento and it only gets better. We just had a basic room but could not fault a thing. Hotel has amazing views with regular transport to Sorrento centre which takes about 5 mins. Though we did walk a few times and takes about 15 mins. Staff could not do more for you and good that we had in hotel was 1st class. A wonderful sample of Italian cultur

absolutely amazing holiday spent at Gran Paradiso!!!

Breathtaking views

The views from the sea facing rooms are breathtaking. The hotel is very clean, the rooms are immaculate. The staff are friendly and me and my partner enjoyed a stroll down to Sorrento in the evening, but got the shuttle back. We only had lunch on one occasion in the hotel and the food was average, hence eating out in one of the many restaurants in Sorrento

The Hotel is fine, excellent view

Good points: view, pool and balcony

View and pool was excellent however location is up a very steep hill, you'll need to take the free shuttle to other destinations

First italian holiday

Our first holiday to Italy Sorrento. Our hotel was very welcoming, rooms comfortable & the service excellent. Very friendly staff always willing to go the extra. We thoroughly enjoyed our trips around the Amalfi coast and to Pompeii. Many thanks to all staff.

Basic hotel, gorgeous pool area.

The rooms are strangely decorated and are basic (as are most rooms in Italy). It struck me as more a three star than a four star. The food is average. I didn't like not being able to pay for drinks/food as I went- You had to charge it to the room. Only one small, slow lift in the hotel.

The view from the pool is absolutely stunning and is the main focal point of the hotel and well worth it. We always managed to get sunbeds too despite being in a large group.

Lovely stay

Lovely stay at this hotel. We had a minor medical emergency which was dealt with in a calm and extremely efficient manner by the hotel staff. The rooms are quite small but the views more than make up for that. Food was excellent and staff were great! All areas were lovely and clean. Really enjoyed our break here. Sorrento is just fabulous!

Sehr empfehlenswert...

Me and my boyfriend booked the hotel 1 hour before we arrived , at our arrival the staff was very friendly , we got upgraded to a better room with a fantastic terrace with a fantastic view over the Sorrento coast .
The pool area is great and newly renovated and a perfect spot for a relaxing day in the sun with a great view over the Sorrento coast .
We would definitely come back

Hotel with stunning view of the bay of Naples

We spent 2 weeks b&b at this hotel and had a wonderful holiday. The view from the pool was stunning as was the pool area it's self. Staff were friendly and helpful particularly on reception. Room was recently refurbished to a good standard but the balcony was tired and in need of redecoration. Room was cleaned daily and towels were changed every day. Breakfast was adequate but not amazing. We ate evening meals there 3 times for convenience which were reasonably priced but nothing special. It's a long steep walk into town but there is a good courtesy bus service. The one disappointment was that the gym was very poor. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would stay again. Thanks to all the staff.

Fantastic Views

The staff at hotel cannot be more helpful. We were not happy with our room when we arrived. The receptionist upgraded us to a lovely room with fantastic views over Bay of Naples. The cleaner was fantastic. Would recommend hotel.

Its all about the views!

My partner and I were very disappointed on arrival to find we had been given a room tucked away at the back of the hotel with a small balcony overlooking the bins and the neighbouring building. We immediately went down to reception and asked to be put in a better room. There was only one available room which required a substantial additional upgrade cost. However, we had not gone all the way to Sorrento to face a wall and feel claustrophobic and therefore we paid the upgrade costs. The room we were given had a fantastic view and that is simply what you pay for. Room: Two single beds pushed together an attached en suite bathroom with varying degrees of maintenance (first bathroom was very clean and tidy but due for updating, second bathroom looked like it had recently been updated). Mini toiletries, blankets and beach towels provided in the room. Small mini bar with chargeable items. No coffee or tea making facilities - if you are like me and need tea at 2.50euro at the bar it can quite quickly mount up! Service: Very polite staff and were very welcoming. Always very attentive to the Italian guests first but overall are very good! Food: Basic breakfast. Very well made and presented but very limited choice. e.g. cooked breakfast consists of scrambled eggs, tomatoes and sausage every day. Overall; stunning views, clean, tidy, close proximity to Sorrento and very walkable (note: the hotel is at the top of a very steep hill!).

The only slight drawback is that you're constrained somewhat by the shuttle bus timetable - the hotel is at the top of a stiff climb and some way out of the centre of Sorrento in St. Agnelli. However, the shuttle is pretty frequent and it's easy to work round this. Recommended!
